Initiative for Mobile Training for Community Radio (INFORMOTRAC) partnering with seven community radios commenced operation in September, 2007 as a project of the Liberia Media Center (LMC). This project liaised with Association of Liberian Community Radios (ALICOR), as a means of strengthening its capacity received capacity support in the form of equipment for the its Monrovia office from the LMC through funding provided by the Radio Netherlands Technical Cooperation (RNTC).
At Under the sponsorship of Radio Netherlands Partnering with the LMC, the INFORMOTRAC project has therefore engaged in empowering the seven community radio stations with training and equipment, boosting their capacity to serve as media channels of communication to peoples resident in their host communities, with the original partner-community radio station that benefitted including Radio Kergheamahn in Nimba, Voice of Tappita..... Media Quality Barometer (MQB)

The Media QB methodology was used to evaluate stories and editorials of nine leading newspapers and similarly news stories and programs on five major radio stations. Its data analysis focused on six performance indicators: grammar and structure, diversity, newsworthiness, context, general layout and general presentation.
At the end of its first phase, July 2010 to April, 2011, the project published four periodic assessment reports on the state of media quality in Liberia, in an unprecedented way through reliable and current data on the issues and areas requiring attention and most importantly provided a comprehensive outlook on the health and state of 14 leading media institutions in the country. This is now available as a baseline
Eight Liberian university graduates now form the core of the monitoring and evaluation department of the LMC, fully equipped with media monitoring and evaluation skills that would influence.....More details>>>>

Trocaire

LMC has partner with Trocaire and 8 other selective partners to develop and implement a three-year Governance and Human Rights Program. The program is titled “ Strengthening Citizens' Engagement with County Governance Structures in Liberia” and it is planned to culminate into a multi-year program that will expire in 2014. The program intends to focus on human rights related to three thematic themes: popular participation, social delivery through education, and natural resources, at a national level, but more specifically four targeted counties, Grand Bassa, Lofa, Nimba, and Bong. The program was officially launched in February of 2011 at the Rose Garden Plaza in Monrovia. The overall primary objective of the program is to increase the accountability of state and local structures/actors around policies in Nimba, Grand Bassa, Lofa, and Bong Counties, and at a national level in Liberia. Journalist for Human Right (JHR)

The Good Governance through Strengthened Media project is a five-year program jointly implemented by Canadian Based Journalists for Human Rights (JHR) and the Liberia Media Centre (LMC). This is supported through the framework of the Governance and Transparency fund of the United Kingdom's Department for International Development (DFID).
The primary objective of the Good Governance through strengthened media project is to increase awareness on human rights and governance in Liberia by undertaking a comprehensive, holistic, sector-wide training of journalists through long-term engagement and on-the-job mentorship. Journalists for Human Rights (jhr) and the Liberia Media Centre (LMC) have been working on this initiative since 2006. More>>> |
